Marble
Marble is a light-colored rock that generally consists of calcite. The name marble derives from the grain of the rock. These are lines which are drawn through in different color nuances from blue to gray to reddish. These grains are caused by foreign components which, like the bedrock calcite, undergo metamorphosis with great heat and pressure.
Marble is mainly used as a building material, but marble is also used in the art of sculpture.
