triathlon

The triathlon was invented in France in the 1920s. The competition, dubbed "La Course des Débrouillards" and "La course des Touche à Tout", took place at Joinville le Pont, in Meulan and Poissy and consisted of a 3km run, 12km bike race and the crossing of the river Marne. In Rochelle there was an edition of "Les Trois Sports" in 1934, with a canal crossing (about 200 m), a 10 km cycling competition in the port of Rochelle and in the Park Laleu and a final 1200 m race in the stadium André- Barbeau. After that, endurance triathlon went quiet until it was "invented" again in the United States in the mid-1970s. Triathlon has been an Olympic discipline at the Summer Olympics since 2000.

Triathlon is an endurance sport. The three disciplines of freestyle swimming, cycling and running are performed consecutively without interruption, with the total time being counted.

The Olympic triathlon (short triathlon) consists of a 1.5 km swim, 40 km bike ride and 10 km run. The middle triathlon consists of 2 km swimming, 80 km cycling, 20 km running and the long triathlon called Ironman requires 3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling, 42 km running.
