In basketball, 2 teams try to throw the ball into baskets. These are located at a height of 3.05 m on the opposite narrow sides of the playing field, which is usually located in a hall. The playing field is always rectangular and has a hard surface. In official main competitions, the field dimensions must be 28 m by 15 m. All circles, lines and zones of the playing field have their own function. At the start of the game, the referee throws the basketball up in the center circle. If the center line is crossed, the "three-point line" and the so-called "zone" (the free-throw space) are approached.

A basketball team consists of 5 field players and up to 7 substitutes. Everyone A hit in the basket from play counts 2 or 3 points depending on the distance, while a free throw counts only one point.
