Nordic Walking

Nordic Walking

Nordic Walking is a special kind of sportive hiking. Coming from Scandinavia, Nordic Walking has developed into a trend sport in recent years. In Finland, Nordic walking was initially intended as a substitute training for cross-country skiers, and it was first introduced in the summer of 1997.

Nordic Walking is one of the endurance sports. However, compared to jogging, it offers the advantage that the use of poles also trains the muscles of the upper body and relieves the hips, knees and ankles. Experts recommend training 2 to 3 times a week for 30 to 45 minutes each time. Nordic Walking is a type of sport with a cyclic movement. In some types of training, the hand is constantly being opened and closed, but this requires good coordination.

The poles are made of light materials, and a removable rubber protection on the pole tips also absorbs impacts. Hand straps prevent the sticks from slipping off. The heel area and the sole of the walking shoe are more rounded to make it easier for the foot to roll smoothly. The sport can be practiced almost anywhere and at any time of the year.
