Theology (Greek: theós = God, lógos = teaching) means "the teaching of God" or gods in general.
The concept of theology originates in Greek philosophical thinking. There he designates the mythical talk of the gods. The theologians as the "mythtellers" faced the philosophers as the "thinkers" who critically reflected on the myths.
In the Middle Ages, the term theology was coined as the most Christian science of faith. Since then, theology in Christianity has been the scientific study of all objects of the Christian tradition and the systematically reflective development of Christian statements of faith.
Theology, regardless of which religion, always starts from the "truth" of its own tradition, in contrast to religious studies that conduct research that is neutral in belief.
