Meteorology

Meteorology is the study of the physical and chemical processes in the atmosphere and their interactions with the other components of the climate system and space.

It is a subfield of physics. At many universities, it is also understood as part of the geosciences and attached to their faculties.

Climatology is an important part of meteorology that has become well known in recent years.

The observation of climate and weather-relevant processes in the atmosphere from the ground, from the air and from space and the conclusions about the further course, with weather forecasting as the most well-known application, is another field of activity in meteorology.
