Hydrology
The study of the manifestations of water above, on and below the surface of the earth is called hydrology (Greek: hydrologia = water and logos = study). It includes not only hydrobiology, but u. a. also hydrography (water science) with the sub-areas of groundwater, river, lake and glacier science and in a broader sense also oceanography.
Hydrology examines the related biological, chemical and physical properties and effects of water. Furthermore, she is dedicated to the connections and interactions of the different forms of water, its cycle, its distribution on the land surface and their changes through anthropogenic influence.
