Mineralogy

The study of minerals or mineralogy deals with the properties, composition and formation of natural minerals.

Mineralogy has developed into a substance-oriented natural science that deals with naturally occurring and synthetically produced substances. It is thus located in the geosciences, but has strong affinities with physics, chemistry and materials science.
