Archeology

Archeology (Greek: archaios and logos = teaching), also ancient history, researches the history of man from his first appearance in prehistory to modern times. Findings about the environment, climate, nutrition or the age of finds contribute to the reconstruction of past everyday life and culture.

Archeology reconstructs the development of civilization with the methods it has developed, based on the legacies in the ground. Going beyond status pictures, which include the economy, settlements, the rite of death, but also social life, she explores their changes in time and space.

Archeology is a discipline of historical science. In prehistoric, i.e. unwritten, periods, archeology is the only access to human life and work. In the Middle Ages and modern times, their findings are able to supplement the picture obtained from written documents.
