Greek Islands
Greece has more than 3000 islands, but only about 78 are inhabited with more than 100 inhabitants. The islands lie partly in the Ionian Sea, in the Aegean Sea and in the open Mediterranean Sea. Greece also has two inland islands, one in Lake Pamvotida and one in the small Lake Prespa. Most of the islands can only be reached by boat. The large islands such as Crete, Rhodes, Corfu and very touristy islands such as Mykonos and Santorini can now be reached directly by plane.
