Alsace

The wine-growing region extends over a length of 100 km from the north to the south of Alsace - from Strasbourg to Mulhouse - with a width of 1.5 to 3 kilometers.

The following grape varieties are permitted in Alsace: Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Muscat d'Alsace and Pinot Noir.

The wine-growing region is climatically favorable on the east side of the Vosges. The soil is very different and, depending on the location, is made up of granite, gneiss or slate as primary rock soils and limestone, marl or sandstone as sedimentary rock soils.

In Alsace, 90% white vines are grown on an area of ​​15,535 hectares.
