Maipo Valley Wine Region
Geographical Location
Geographical Location
The Maipo Valley stretches from Santiago and the Andes in the east west to the coast below San Antonio.
Grape VarietiesMore than half of the vines are Cabernet, the rest consists of Merlot, Carménère, Syrah, Sauvignon and Chardonnay.
Climate and SoilsDue to the Andes, the vines are not warmed until late in the morning. Because of the proximity to the coast, the nights are cold, the combination of both causes an excellent maturing process, especially with Cabernet Sauvignon.
Size and Locations10,800 ha of vines are cultivated in this Chilean region between 400 and 800 meters.
