A new boom only started in the 1970s. Although viticulture is concentrated in California (70% of wine comes from California), there are now a few states with notable viticulture (Oregon, Washington, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Texas). With over 17 million hl, the USA is now a very important wine-growing country.
