Characteristic of the Swabian-Alemannic carnival is the masking of the so-called Hästräger (costume wearers) with masks or masks, which are mostly made of wood, but in exceptional cases also made of fabric, paper, clay, tin or wire (so-called wire gauze). . The Häs (costume) is not changed and is subject to strict guild regulations. In some areas it is common for the Häss to be passed down through the generations.
