Since it was founded in 1884, the Mainz Princes' Guard has played an important role at the Meenzer Fastnacht. The march of the guard regiment during the Shrove Monday procession is, in addition to its blaze of colour, proof of the cohesion of the association and the fun that the members of the Mainz Prince Guard have with each other and with the people of Mainz.
The Mainz Prince Guard organizes numerous guard meetings. The Prinzengardeball, which they traditionally organize every year, is well-known beyond the city limits. He is a social highlight in the foolish time.
