Squash originated in England in the mid-19th century and from there first spread to the Commonwealth. Germany reached squash in the 1930s where the first squash courts were built in Berlin by Siemens.

Squash only experienced a real upswing in Germany in the 1970s. Since 2005, there has been a slight downward trend in the number of systems.

Squash is a ball sport for two players. It is played in a room delimited by four walls, 9.75 m long and 6.40 m wide, called the court. The walls of the court, referred to as the front (front) wall, back wall and side walls, have red markings that delimit the field of play.

The players use squash racquets that look like badminton racquets and a special squash ball. Unlike badminton, the players do not face each other, but stand parallel to each other on the same court, separated only by a center line.

The squash ball is played from the service area of ??the court to the front wall. There, the ball must come up above the service line and fly back into the opposite service field, which is separated by the center line. The ball can touch any wall.

The object of the game is to hit the ball in such a way that the opponent cannot reach it before it hits the ground a second time.

The squash ball is black and made of soft rubber. There are different balls that differ in their bounce characteristics from very slow to fast. The slow balls bounce very little off the ground, making them very difficult to reach.
